SACRAMENTO — Voter ID is official on the November ballot.
The ballot measure authored by San Diego Republican Assemblyman Carl DeMaio officially qualified after California Secretary of State Shirley Weber’s office said proponents collected about 1 million signatures on Friday. The measure would require all voters casting ballots in person to present a government-issued photo ID card and for mail-in ballots to provide the last four digits of a government-issued ID number, among others.
DeMaio submitted more than 1.4 million signatures in March after launching the campaign in 2025. The conservative firebrand said the effort
