Week Three of the season comes to a close with the Carlsbad Lancers coming out on top against the Sweetwater Red Devils with a final score of 62-0.
On the opening kickoff, Carlsbad’s junior Noah Vella exploded past everyone with a 98-yard return for a touchdown, giving Carlsbad the lead, 7-0. What better way to start a game.
Carlsbad managed to keep the momentum. In the second quarter, Lancers’ senior quarterback Keoni Quintana sent a 33-yard touchdown pass to Asa Turner, making it 28-0 Lancers.
Sweetwater senior Luciano Estopier attempted to drive the ball down with a 35-yard kickoff return, but the Red Devils were eventually stopped by Carlsbad’s defense.
Carlsbad kept the touchdowns coming, as Quintana’s 10-yard touchdown pass to Coleby Whillock made it 42-0 Lancers.
As the third quarter rolled around, Sweetwater made another attempt to drive the ball down to the goal line, but were unable to get the first down at the 24-yard line.
Carlsbad’s junior North Dewhurst had a 47-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, closing out the game with a final score of 62-0.
Sweetwater’s efforts just couldn’t get past Carlsbad’s solid defense.
