VISTA, CA – Vista Community Clinic (VCC) is proud to participate in Red Ribbon Week (October 23–31), the nation’s largest and longest-running drug prevention campaign. This annual observance serves as an important reminder of the power of prevention and the role young people play in shaping a healthier, substance-free future.
Two dynamic programs drive VCC’s prevention efforts. The Tobacco Prevention Program and the Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Prevention Program are both committed to educating youth and empowering them to make healthy, positive choices. Through these initiatives and the Youth Advocacy Clubs, middle and high school students learn to become leaders in prevention, using their voices to inspire peers and strengthen community wellness.
“Our youth are the heart of this movement,” said Lisa Archibald, program director. “By helping them understand how their choices impact their health and their future, we are not just preventing substance use, we are building confidence, resilience, and community leadership.”
VCC’s longstanding prevention work was honored this week when its Tobacco Prevention Program received the Red Ribbon Outstanding Prevention Program Award at the 2025 Red Ribbon Luncheon, hosted by CCR Consulting. This recognition highlights VCC’s commitment to advancing youth-led prevention, community education, and healthier environments across Southern California.
This year’s Red Ribbon Week theme, “Be Kind to Your Mind. Live Drug Free.”, highlights the connection between mental health and substance use prevention, reminding youth that taking care of their minds and bodies goes hand in hand with making healthy choices.
VCC remains committed to fostering safe environments where young people can thrive, free from the influence of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
