With strong El Niño conditions expected to bring heavy rain to the region, County officials detailed new storm-readiness and flood prevention efforts at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting.
The Board approved recommendations to receive the County’s El Niño and severe weather preparedness update and directed staff to develop a countywide Severe Weather Community Preparedness Resource Hub and outreach strategy.
Supervisors also asked the Chief Administrative Officer to return Oct. 6 with a preparedness plan for unincorporated communities hit hard by the January 2024 floods. The plan will include the status of nine sites previously impacted by flooding, first‑day response actions and assistance options for families with limited financial resources.
