Fire Trio
On February 25, 2024, 3 small fires started in the city. At 11:14 a.m., fire crews were dispatched
to a reported vegetation fire near the Sprinter Station on Auto Parkway and Mission Rd. The first arriving unit found a small fire in the area of a homeless encampment, which was quickly extinguished.

At 5:54 p.m., fire crews responded to a report of a possible structure fire on Oak Bluff PL. The first arriving firefighters reported an electrical problem causing the kitchen to fill with smoke. The electrical issue was isolated and there was no active fire or damage to the structure.

Then at 11:59 p.m., fire crews were dispatched to a structure fire on Lost Oak Ln. The first units to arrive on scene found the remnants of an extinguished chimney fire. The fire was contained and extinguished inside the chimney and no damage to the structure.

Vehicle Fires & Damage
On February 26, Escondido Police advised Fire that a vehicle was on fire, close to a nearby structure, on S. Andreasen. When fire crews arrived, they discovered a pickup truck and 2 vans fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly used tools to gain access to the inside of the vans and ultimately extinguish the fire. While the vans sustained significant damage, there was no damage to civilians or the nearby structure. The fire is under investigation.

Also, on February 26, fire crews were dispatched to the 1200 block of S. Juniper for a vehicle into a structure. While in route, a second call for a vehicle into a structure was reported at the 100 block of W 5th. The reports received were that a full-size pickup truck initially drove into the W. 5th house, causing mild to moderate
damage to the home, front gate, and a parked car. The vehicle then drove a short distance and struck the home on S. Juniper. Mild to moderate damage was sustained to that home, as well. Fire crews arrived and assessed, treated, and transported the driver of the vehicle to Palomar for evaluation. Luckily, residents at both locations did not
have any injuries.

Two-Story Fire
On February 27, the Escondido Police and Fire Communications Center received 911 calls reporting a residential structure fire at the 900 block of Via Linda in the unincorporated County area of Escondido. A residential structure fire response was dispatched to the location. The first arriving Engine Company reported a working fire in a two-story home with exposures threatened.

Aggressive actions by Firefighters confined the fire to the second floor of the structure in approximately 25 minutes. There was no damage to adjacent homes or outbuildings. No Firefighters or
civilians were injured during the incident. Unfortunately, several family pets succumbed to smoke inhalation.

The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by members of the Escondido Fire
Department Prevention Division.
