The popular Frida’s Taqueria opens a new location on Friday in Vista in the South Santa Fe Mercado strip mall taking over the former home of the Sunrise Café and the Madera Kitchen of Mexico locations. O’Reilly Auto Parts is at one end of the strip mall and Frida’s is at the other end. Owners Grace and Roberto Ayala are excited to become part of the Vista food scene. One of the first things they did was join the Vista Chamber of Commerce. The Vista Chamber of Commerce will be holding a Red Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Friday at noon for the restaurant. Grace said they consider their restaurant the “In-N-Out of Tacos”, offering a very concise and delicious menu at a reasonable cost. Grace and Roberto began Frida’s in 2017 opening at the Farmers Market in San Diego Horton Plaza. They quickly expanded over the years to farmers markets in Oceanside, Poway, Encinitas, Leucadia and Carlsbad. Roberto said his family has always been in the “meat cutter” food business. He said the family business uses sons and daughters, relatives and friends at the different farmers markets and they will continue to offer Frida’s at the Oceanside, Poway, Encinitas and Leucadia Farmer’s Markets.

Along with the opening of the new Vista location they will soon be opening in Ramona. Frida’s also offers an extensive catering service. There is a covered patio area just outside of the Vista location available for parties and meetings. Ample space is available inside the restaurant as well. Customers can also watch their food being prepared after they order and as you watch the large spits of meat spinning as the various meats are cut off for the items ordered.

The Frida’s menu includes a variety of Tacos at $3.49, a variety of Burritos at $12.99, Quesa Tacos, Fries, Tortas, Mulita, Papa Asada, a variety of Nachos and drinks. On Taco Tuesday the tacos are $1.99. At the present time the Frida’s Vista location will not offer alcoholic beverages, but they will be applying for a license to serve alcohol. Grace said they just wanted to get the Vista location open and will add this in the near future. She also said the City of Vista has been extremely helpful in everything they needed to become established in Vista. They plan to open at 10 am each day and stay open until midnight on the weekends. Grace and Robert said they want to become an active member of the community working with schools, churches, and organizations. First responders are offered discounts at Frida’s. Grace also said they are on Instagram and Facebook where those that follow them can keep up with all of their location’s activities.

Welcome Grace and Roberto to Vista and stop in Frida’s Taqueria and try a selection of tacos or other items from their menu.
