MoMM, which originally opened in 2000 at the NAMM headquarters in Carlsbad, CA, offers flexible exhibition spaces for immersive musical instrument exhibitions, a versatile studio/classroom area for both students and adults and an exciting new exhibition showcasing top products from the 2024 NAMM Show.

“We are excited to reopen our museum doors to our extraordinary community as we welcome back visitors to enjoy renovated galleries, hands-on musical experiences and incredible products launched at our 2024 NAMM Show,” said John Mlynczak, NAMM president and CEO.

“We are deeply grateful to our members and supporters, who have secured the future of MoMM for generations to come,” said Carolyn Grant, executive director of MoMM. “The renovation and new activities were possible due to a generous grant from the Kenneth T. & Eileen L. MUSEUM REMODEL HIGHLIGHTS:

The Backstage Lounge
The Backstage Lounge is an interactive area for adults with comfortable seating and higher-end instruments in a relaxed and welcoming environment for all guests to explore music-making.

The Center Stage
The Center Stage is a dedicated interactive room for “kids of all ages.” It provides hands-on, music-making experiences for families with younger children and elementary to high school-aged students. The space is configured into two areas: one for older students, featuring a variety of electronic instruments and hands-on experiences, and the other featuring instruments that are easily accessible for younger children.

Deeper Explorations of the Music Instrument Ecosystem

Additionally, the remodel created new display spaces to deepen visitor connections to the stories of the people, families, and organizations that make, provide, and play musical instruments.

The NAMM Foundation
The NAMM Foundation celebrates and promotes the intrinsic value of music education. As a program of the foundation, the museum created a place where visitors can learn about The NAMM Foundation, its programs, purpose, impact and relationship to the museum.

Theme & Variations
The Theme & Variations area in the museum highlights the constant evolution of instruments. The museum’s updated display will highlight how musical instrument makers introduce and launch innovative new ideas on the global stage.

Spotlight Displays
The Spotlight Displays are two revolving exhibit spaces exploring unique topics related to instrument makers and retailers. Visitors will learn about manufacturers and music retailers who have earned places of distinction from their peers and experts through the services and products they provide that highlight their entrepreneurial spirit.
