San Diego’s Inflation Rate is the Highest in the Nation

We all feel it—prices are up across the board. But now the data backs up what San Diegans are experiencing every day: inflation here is the highest in the nation.

In fact, San Diego recorded the highest inflation rate in the country last month for the second month in a row. Our inflation rate was 3.8% in May—higher than New York and more than six times higher than Dallas, which saw just 0.6%.

The primary drivers? Skyrocketing housing and gas prices. That’s why these two issues are at the heart of my campaign for County Supervisor.

High housing costs affect everyone—not just those trying to buy a home. As home prices rise, rents increase, too. Higher rents force businesses to raise wages to attract workers, which drives up the cost of goods and services for everyone.

The same applies to gas prices. Fuel is a core cost of doing business, and when prices at the pump go up, those costs are passed down the line—ultimately to consumers. High gas prices mean higher prices on everything we buy.

We must address the rising cost of living by cutting taxes and making housing more affordable for working and middle-class families. Here’s how I’ll do it:

✅ Oppose Gas Tax Increases and the Vehicle Mileage Tax

✅ Oppose Sales Tax Increases

✅ Oppose the Housing Sales Tax (Transfer Tax)

✅ Protect Proposition 13

California’s sky-high tax rates drive up the cost of living—raising prices on gas, utilities, groceries, and housing for both renters and homeowners. I strongly oppose new taxes because they fall hardest on working families, shrinking paychecks and eroding purchasing power.
