Search Continues for Missing Oceanside Woman Angelica Brophy
OCEANSIDE, CA — Authorities are continuing their search for Angelica Brophy, an Oceanside woman who was reported missing on the evening of July 6.
According to the Oceanside Police Department, Brophy was reported missing at approximately 9:30 p.m. Detectives began following up on leads the next day in an effort to determine her location.
On July 8, investigators contacted Brophy’s cellphone carrier and attempted to locate her phone through a signal “ping.” Police said the attempt was unsuccessful because the phone was either turned off or its battery had died.
Investigators determined that Brophy’s last confirmed location was Harrah’s Resort Southern California in Valley Center at approximately 3:30 p.m. on July 6.
Her vehicle was discovered three days later, on July 9, in a parking lot at Palomar Mountain State Park. Brophy was not found with the vehicle.
California State Parks officers, assisted by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue Team, launched an extensive search of the surrounding area. Crews searched from 7 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. on July 9, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on July 10 and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 11.
Despite the efforts of search crews, Brophy was not located.
On Sunday, July 12, members of a California State Parks dive team searched a pond inside Palomar Mountain State Park. That search was also unsuccessful. Diving operations were expected to resume Monday, July 13, with assistance from the San Diego Harbor Police Department.
The Oceanside Police Department continues to investigate Brophy’s disappearance and is asking anyone who may have seen her or who has information about her whereabouts to contact Detective Ryan Malone at 760-435-4537.
Anyone with immediate information may also contact the Oceanside Police Department at 760-435-4900.
